Your executor will report your deceased estate (and provide an original signed version of your will) to the Master of the High Court and ultimately be responsible for liquidating and distributing your assets, as is outlined in your will. Some of your assets might generate income (for instance a property you rent out) while your estate is being wound up and the executor will have to collect this income and reinvest it. Your executor will also be responsible for paying all debts outstanding upon your passing on. An executor's job is administratively intensive, so ensure you appoint someone who is highly organised, competent and savvy.
